ID CharacteristicThe pith of twigs is white and the smell of a broken twig produces a strong acrid smell. The bud scales are coated with silky white hairs.
ShapeThe tree is symmetrical and round but branches grow irregularly, while trying to brace the uneven crown.
CultivationThe Variegated Boxelder adapts well to poor, wet or dry soils and cold climates. They are able to tolerate soil pH's ranging from low acidic to high alkaline conditions. It can grow in full sun areas to partial shade.
