General Description
Helianthus annuus 'Sonja' is a hardy annual sunflower with yellow-orange ray blooms.
Landscape
Makes a good specimen plant or en masse. Grow against a fence, shed, house or veranda for support and as a backdrop to other plants.
Cultivation
Grow in full sun to part shade. Staking may be required for taller plants and/or heavy flower heads.
Pests
Possible problems include: caterpillars, beetles, leaf fungal spots, rust and powdery mildew.

Alternate, medium-green.
Flower Description
Solitary, terminal, short ray petals are golden orange, centres are dark brown. Blooming from midsummer to early autumn.
Propagation
By seed sown in February to May, germination takes 5 - 21 days.
