A unique evergreen with brilliant gold foliage shooting off in all directions on pointed branches: much like a fern. Often prone to slight winter-burn in our climate, however, a worthy inclusion in the garden.

General Description
A small to medium sized shrub with bright scale-like golden foliage.
Landscape
Can be used to effect in small groups or as a solitary accent. It is prone to winter-burn and hence needs a protected location. Great interplanted with Blue Oat Grass or Blue Fescues as a ground cover base.
Cultivation
Plant in a moist, well drained soil, in a humid atmosphere in full sun with protection from wind.
Shape
Loosely pyramidal to irregular mounding.

Golden yellow sprays of foliage radiating sporadically from the crown of the plant.
Pests
Prone to some wind-burn in USDA zone 6 and below.

Monoecious; staminate yellow, about 1 cm long.

Cones short stalked, solitary, globose; .75-1.25 cm long. Orange-brown in colour; depressed on the back; convex or nearly triangular.

Leaves are green with a gold tip, and the bark is a red-brown colour.

Propagation
Cuttings from one, two or three year old wood rooted under mist and bottom heat from September to January.
