A great plant for groundcover or cascading over retaining walls. Has a gentle appearance and is very low growing. It's pale green foliage has a grey tint which gives it character. A very versatile Juniper as it works well as a massing plant as well. This is a very unique and 'graceful' plant.

General Description
Juniperus Sabina ‘skandia’ has a very gentle look and makes a great ground cover. It’s branches arch slightly so it would do well over a retaining wall or it can be used as a massing plant. It is not tolerant of watery soils, but will grow in almost all other soil conditions.
Landscape
Does well as a ground cover or a massing plant, should be pruned in winter once the intense cold has passed. Looks great in a rock garden, or cascading over a retaining wall, this is a multi-use plant.
Cultivation
Does best in full sun, but will tolerate partial shade. It does not like wet soils, but will tolerate most others.

ID Characteristic
This plant has a delicate look and is extremely low growing. The branches gently arch, and the foliage is scale like, it also produced small blue berries.
Pests
Juniperus sabina 'Skandia' can be effected by juniper blight, but is fairly tolerant.

Horticultural origin.
Bark/Stem Description
A red-brown colour, and becomes more exfoliating as it ages.
Leaf Description
Leaves are scale-like and in opposite pairs which slightly overlap, they are a light green to pale grey colour; 1–2 mm long and 1 mm thick.
Flower Description
Dioecious.
Fruit Description
Blue berries are visible from early spring to mid winter; they are about 2–6 mm in size, the berries become ripe in Autumn.
Colour Description
Pale green-grey colour, with a shiny, leathery look.
Texture Description
This is a medium textured plant.
Propagation
Soft wood cuttings or grafting. Cuttings should be taken in the late spring or early summer.
