General Description
This subspecies has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened.
Habitat
Valleys in forests of high rural populated areas at an altitude of 500-2,000 m.

Purplish or Greyish-purple in colour with thin branchlets.
Flower/Leaf Bud Description
Small winter buds with 5-8 scales.
Leaf Description
Ovate or ovate-oblong, a rounded base, tufts of hair at the vein base, 8-20 x 5-9 cm.
Fruit Description
Glabrous and yellow in colour, 2-3 mm. Ovoid nutlets with spreading wings, 5-5.5x1.4 mm, produced August through October.
