Flowering Period
General Description
With less than 50-60 mature individuals in China and 200 in Vietnam, this species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as endangered.
Habitat
Montane forests at an altitude of approximately 1,500 m.
Bark/Stem Description
Wood is soft, pale brown in its youth maturing to glabrescent.
Leaf Description
Oblong-elliptic to elliptic, thick, glabrous with a shiny underside and a broadly cuneate base, 14-17 x 6-8 cm.
Flower Description
9 tepaled flowers.
Fruit Description
Ovoid, narrow and glabrous.
