General Description
This species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as least concern however is listed as threatened in Thailand and as vulneralbe in the China Plant Red Data Book.

Ornamental.
Cultivation
Well drained, moist soil in full sun to partial shade.
Habitat
Evergreen forests on hills at an altitude of 900-1,200 m.

Glabrous yellowish-brown twigs.
Leaf Description
Ovate or elliptic, thick, glossy, 10-16 x 4-10 cm.
Flower Description
Fragrant flowers with 9-12 tepals, bottom tepals a reddish pink to pink colour and graduate to a lighter pale pink or white, 12 cm in diameter.
Fruit Description
Ovoid-ellipsoid, purplish-red when ripe, 7-12 cm, produced August through September.
