General Description
This species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened, and is considered endangered in China.
Habitat
Mountain valleys and river banks at an altitude of 700-1,000 m.
Bark/Stem Description
Glabrescent brown branchlets.
Leaf Description
Oblong-elliptic to lanceolate, thick, glabrescent with a cuneat base and 12-17 secondary veins on either side of the midvein, 10-17 x 3-5 cm.
Fruit Description
Oblate yellowish-brown nut, 1.1-1.4 x 1.3-1.8 cm.
