General Description
Located in only along the mountain range in the province of Guangxi, this species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened.
Habitat
Mesophytic forests in mountains at an altitude of approximately 1,000 m.
Bark/Stem Description
Hairless and glabrous branchlets.
Leaf Description
Obovate-elliptic to elliptic, glabrous, dark green with a whitish underside, 7-9 secondary veins on either side of the midvein and a cuneate base.
Flower Description
Female inflorescence which bears 3-5 fruit.
Fruit Description
Acorn, oblong and glabrous with scales 2 x 1.3 cm. Oblong-ellipsoid and glabrous nut, 2-2.2 x 1.3 cm, produced in October in clusters of 3-5.
