General Description
With a single population systeym in the valley of Rio Concho and long the Rio Grande, this species has been placed on the IUCN Red List.
Habitat
Limestone slopes and dry montane scrubs at an altitude of 1,700-2,100 m.

Thick, glabrous branchlets.
Flower/Leaf Bud Description
Ovoid and narrow, 2 mm in length.
Leaf Description
Ovate, toothed, green with a pale grey-green underside, 5-7 secondary veins on either side of the midvein and a rounded or cordate base, 1.2-2.5 x 1-1.5 cm.
Flower Description
Catkins, 1 cm in length.
Fruit Description
Acorn, singular or paired.
