General Description
This species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened and is considered endangered in Guatemala.
Habitat
Plains and dry mountain slopes at an altitude of 1,800 - 2,900 m.
Bark/Stem Description
Fissured, grey bark with brown glabrescent twigs.
Flower/Leaf Bud Description
Ovoid with glabrous scales, 2-3 mm.
Leaf Description
Oblong-elliptical to oblong-lanceolate, thin, dark green with a paler underside, a rounded to cordate base and 10-20 secondary veins on either side of the midvein, 3-10 x 1-4 cm.
Fruit Description
Ovoid or cylindrical light brown acorn, singular or paired, 1.2-1.8 cm.
