General DescriptionA species in the North American Cypress family with light green, scale-like foliage.
ShapeLarge, pyramidal conifer.

CultivationBest grown in rock gardens and requires lots of sun.
PestsAcacia dealbata and Genista monspessulana impact the growth of the Santa Cruz Cypress by blocking sunlight and taking away soil space for germination. Natural fires are also a major threat to the Cypress.
Bark/Stem DescriptionThin, fibrous bark with vertical stripes.
Leaf DescriptionDense branching with light green leaves (15mm in length) and leaves are present all year round.
Fruit DescriptionPollen cones (4mm long). Female seed cones produce annually and are 20-30mm in diameter and remain on the tree until the supporting branches die off.
