Origin | The genus Magnolia is named after Pierre Magnol, a French botanist who lived from 1638 to 1715. The hybrid was produced in 1907 by Exeter nurseryman Peter Veitch, it is a cross between M. campbellii and M. denudata. Borde Hill Gardens in West Sussex, England received plants from Veitch's Nursery in Exeter which first flowered in 1934. |
