Description and Growing Information

General DescriptionAlstroemeria aurea is a herbaceous perennial with attractively-veined foliage and umbels of bright orange-yellow lily flowers.
CultivationGrow in full sun to part-shade, in moderately moist, well-drained, humus soil.

Leaf DescriptionAlternate, lanceolate, 7 - 10 cm long with distinct parallel venation.
Flower Description3 outer tepals (segments of the outer whorl with no differentiation between petal and sepal) are bright orange-yellow with a green tip, broadly ovate, 3 inner tepals are much narrower: 2 upper are spotted with red. Flowers are arranged in clusters called umbels, in which stalks of similar length grow from a common centre.
