Bark/Stem DescriptionRough, greyish-brown in colour.
Leaf DescriptionOval-elliptic, glossy and glabrous with a cuneate base and 18-30 secondary veins on either side of the midvein, 15-35 x 5-10 cm.
Flower DescriptionMale flowers on catkins shorter than leaves; pistillate flowers on very short inflorescences bearing 3-4 cups.
Fruit DescriptionA big, flattened acorn, 2-3 cm long, 3-4 cm in diameter, smooth, enclosed 2/3 to 4/5 by cup, cup sessile, 2-3 cm long, 3-5 cm in diameter, 7-10 concentric rings with flaking edges at maturity, basal scar 2-3 cm wide, flat or slightly convex, stylopodium persistent, 5 mm thick, and maturing in 1 year.
