Due to its unfamiliarity, this evergreen's use in the landscape has occurred as a specimen tree; its use has not been widely explored. A handsome tree overall, but not outstanding. Tolerant to cold weather.

General Description
Resembles P. cembra when young. Cones are very similar to P. strobus and are often misidentified as P. strobus at a glance. New growth is a light green while mature foliage is lime green. The tree has a narrow pyramidal shape.
Landscape
Unfortunately, this tree has seen little landscape use because it is not well known. P. peuce is adaptable and is tolerant of low temperature extremes. However, it does not appear to be tolerant to high heat levels.
Cultivation
Not widely cultivated. Usually grown from seed.

Narrow, pyramidal form with long 10 cm needles. Very slow juvenile growth but the growth rate increases as it ages.

Canker and aphids.

Balkan Peninsula, Albania and Greece.
Bark/Stem Description
Thin grey bark that scales off in large plates. Bark becomes quie scaly as it matures.
Flower/Leaf Bud Description
Small, light green with lime green bud scales.
Leaf Description
Fascicles of 5.7-10 cm long and 1-2 mm wide; they are lime green in colour.
Flower Description
The plant is monoecious.
Fruit Description
Young cones are a lime green with brown tips and mature into a light brown: cones resemble P. strobus.
Colour Description
Lime green needles. New growth is light green while older growth is a lime green.
Texture Description
Medium leaf texture with rough scaly bark.
Propagation
Seed can be stratified for up to 60 days to improve germination but it is not required.
