| Dark red to maroon flowers that are up to 12 cm across with elongate corolla lobes, fringed with purple vibratile, club-shaped hairs. Of the all the species growing in Namibia S. schinzii has the largest flowers and is closely related to the endangered Stapelia pillansii. |
