Flowering Period
General Description
Erect dark green plant with relatively few spines and eye catching vivid yellow-green blooms.
Cultivation
Dry gravel or sandy soils with a minimum of 6 hours of direct sunlight per day.
Shape
Erect.
Habitat
Canyon bottoms or valleys, on the coastal side of mountains at an altitude of 150-900 m.
Leaf Description
Lanceolate, 4.5-7.5 mm in length and 3 mm in diameter. Spines are evenly distributed on greyish brown or reddish brown sheaths, 0.9-1.5 cm in length.
Flower Description
Flowers are clustered, each roughly 3-4 cm in diameter a vivid greenish yellow colour with a purple hue.
Fruit Description
Greenish in colour, maturing to a tan or brown, obovoid-turbinate, approximately 1.2 cm in length and 1 cm in diameter. Fruit falls off in late summer or autumn.
Colour Description
Dark green with greenish-yellow flowers.
