Flowering Period
General Description
Form dense mats, stems almost crawl through shrubs and open areas.
Cultivation
Sandy soils and sandy loams.
Habitat
Valleys in bluffs and hills generally at altitudes under 150 m.
Leaf Description
Lanceolate, 4.5-7.5 mm in length and 3 mm in diameter. Spines are evenly distributed on greyish brown or reddish brown sheaths, 0.9-1.5 cm in length.
Flower Description
Flowers are clustered, each roughly 3-4 cm in diameter a vivid greenish yellow colour with a purple hue.
Fruit Description
Greenish in colour, maturing to a tan or brown, obovoid-turbinate, approximately 1.2 cm in length and 1 cm in diameter. Fruit falls off in late summer or autumn.
Colour Description
Dark green with greenish-yellow flowers.
