This extremely rare species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened.
Habitat
Sparse forests at an altitude of 1,000-2,000 m.
Bark/Stem Description
Purplish grey to brown with purple, thin and glabrous branchlets.

Purple with imbricate scales.
Leaf Description
Oblong-lanceolate, gently raised lateral veins in 8-9 pairs and a rounded or broadly cuneate base, 3.5-4.5 x 1.5-2 cm.

Purplish in colour.
Fruit Description
Brownish-yellow fruit, ellipsoid or ellipsoid-oblong winged nutlets, 1.8 cm x 8 mm, produced from August through September.
