General Description
With only 6 locations known, this species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as endangered.
Cultivation
Well drained soil in full sun, drought tolerant.
Habitat
Shrubland, slopes and open glades at an altitude of 500-800 m.
Bark/Stem Description
Smooth dark grey almost black bark, becoming more ridged and rough as it ages with greyish-brown to reddish-brown, glabrous twigs.
Leaf Description
Ovate to elliptic, a cordate-truncate to obtuse base with 5-7 ovate-oblong lobes, glabrous with raised secondary veins, green with a pale green underside and turn a beautiful vibrant red autumn colour, 7-14 x 10-15 cm.
Flower Description
Yellowish-green flowers.
Fruit Description
Oval acorns, 4-7 x 10-20 mm.
