General Description
Selected as Cypruss' national tree in 2006, restricted to a population only in the Troodos Mountains, this species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened.

Volcanic and serpentine soils at an altitude of 400-1, 800 m.

Furrowed, dark grey with hairy covered branchlets.
Leaf Description
Obovate, glabrous glossy dark green leaves with a golden or brownish underside, 1.5-6 x 1-5 cm.
Flower Description
Greenish-yellow flowers grouped in pendulous clusters.
Fruit Description
Obovate or subcylindrical acorns, 2-2.5 x 0.8-1.2 cm.
