General Description
This species occurs in only 2 locations, both in the Sierra Lamata and has been placed on the IUCN Red List as vulnerable.
Habitat
Montane forests at an altitude of 2,600-3,300 m.
Bark/Stem Description
Smooth dark grey bark with reddish-brown twigs.
Flower/Leaf Bud Description
Ovoid with glabrous scales, dark brown.
Leaf Description
Obovate to elliptic, 4-8 teeth, small hairs on the underside with 5-5 secondary veins on either side of the midvein and a cordate base, 2-6 x 2-4 cm.
Flower Description
Inflorescence 5-6 cm in length.
Fruit Description
Ovoid acorn, 1-1.5 cm.
