General Description
This species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened and is considered endangered in China.
Habitat
Wet forests in mountainous areas at an altitude of 800-1,700 m.
Bark/Stem Description
Hairless, glabrous, thin twigs.
Leaf Description
Oval-elliptic to oblong-lanceolate, deep green with a greyish-green underside, a cuneate base and 9-12 secondary veins on either side of the midvein, 10-14 x 2.5-4.5 cm.
Fruit Description
Ellipsoid acorn 1.5-2 cm in diameter.
