General Description

Habitat
Wet montane forests at an altitude of 1,200-2,700 m.
Bark/Stem Description
Grey and furrowed bark, with yellow, pubescent young branches maturing to glabrous and dark red.
Flower/Leaf Bud Description
Acorn, ovoid and pointed, 3-67 mm.
Leaf Description
Oboval or elliptical, thick, a pointed apex, toothed, vibrant green and slightly rough with a whitish underside, a subcordate to truncate base and 8-15 secondary veins on either side of the midvein.
Flower Description
Catkins, 5-6 cm in length.
Fruit Description
Acorn, ovoid and light brown, 1.5-2 x 1.5 cm.
