Smooth, blackish brown becoming furrowed and rough with age. Glabrescent, thick dark olive green twigs.

Ovoid, reddish-brown, clustered in 5-7, 3-8 mm.
Leaf Description
Oboval to oblong-elliptic, thick, glossy dark green with a blueish-green, pubescent underside, a rounded or cuneate base and 9-13 slightly curved veins on either side of the midvein, 6-13 x 2.5-5 cm.
Flower Description
Drooping male catkins.
Fruit Description
Acorn, ovoid, oblong-ovoid or ellipsoid, 1-1.6 x 0.9-1.4 cm.
