Origin:  West Turkey. Chionodoxa comes from the Greek word chion, meaning snow and doxa which means glory, referring to the wildflowers that bloom in the melting snow.

General Description
A perennial with paired, narrow basal leaves and deep blue flowers with white centers.
Landscape
Excellent at the bases of roses or shrubs, or in woodland-type gardens.
Cultivation
Grow in full sun or partial shade in any well-drained soil.

Leaf Description
Each bulb produces 2-3 leaves, up to 14 cm long and 1.5 cm wide, erect or spreading and chanelled.
Flower Description
Produced in a loose pyramidal to one-sided raceme, with up to 22 flowers per stem. Each flower is up to 2.5 cm across, with individual tepals 1.5 cm long. The tepals are violet-blue, somewhat paler at the base, producing a paler 'eye'.
Propagation
Propagate by seed or division of offsets. Colonizes areas rapidly.
