ID Characteristic |
Eye-catching raceme especially when in bud. Buds swell up like balloons before partially opening. |
Pests |
Slugs and snails like to eat the foliage and can cause serious damage. Foliar nematodes may also feed on the leaves, causing browning between veins. Other less frequent problems are leaf spot and crown rot. Three viruses to watch for are: Hosta Virus X, tobacco rattle and tomato ring spot. Plants infected with any of these should be promptly removed and destroyed. |
