The Chinese Witch Hazel is a medium to tall deciduous shrub often a multi-stemmed specimen producing yellow "spider-like" flowers in late autumn.

General Description
The leaves of the plant are green until autumn when they turn gold or yellow before falling from the plant.
Landscape
Most often used in borders of gardens amongst other shrubs since out of bloom it has little aesthetic value. Also suited to woodland and natural landscape use.
Shape
A fairly tall upright shrub, with multiple stemmed branching. It has a vase-like shape reaching 3 - 4.5 m.

Pests
Witch Hazel is usually immune to pests and diseases, but is prone to the Japanese beetle which consumes the plant’s foliage. The plant is resistant to deer.
Bark/Stem Description
Hamamelis mollis has a smooth ashy-grey to brown bark.
Leaf Description
This plant has a green foliage that changes yellow-gold towards autumn, leaves are oval to ovate in shape.
Flower Description
The elongated flowers have four petals, which give it its distinct appearance. They do not suffer damage in the winter when temperatures drop below freezing.
Fruit Description
The fruit capsule contains two individual black seeds.
