| Leaf Description |
| The leaves are opposite with a 4 mm long petiole. The leaf blade is 1-3 cm long and 3-9 mm wide, narrowly elliptic and is somewhat hairy on both sides. Leaves are pointed at both ends with 3-5 major veins in a palmate arrangement while secondary veins form a ladder-like arrangement between the primary veins. |
| Flower Description |
| The flowers are dark pink, radially symmetrical and about 4 cm wide. There are 4 petals to each bloom which are widest near the tip with each petal being about 2 cm long and nearly as wide. The stamens are yellow and red with the calyx lobes and floral base red. The bracts are leaf-like while the flowers are solitary or paired and are often abundant frequently covering the shrub. |
