Habitat
The Harebell is found in dry, nutrient-lacking grassland and heaths in Europe and North America. The plant often grows in cracks on walls, cliff faces and dunes.
Flower Description
Flowers are five violet-blue petals linked together into a bell shape, with each bloom being about 15 mm long.
Fruit Description
The seeds are contained in a capsule about 3–4 mm in diameter. They are released by pores at the bottom of the capsule.
Propagation
Root cuttings collected in the autumn and cut into 5 cm lengths and place horizontally in flats barley covering the top. Water and place in a cold frame until growth appears and then pot individually.
