General Description
Typically grown for Christmas trees but a favoured tree for its foliage and needles that aren't sharp and don't drop off when dry.
Landscape
Grown for Christmas trees but works well as an ornamental landscape tree.
Cultivation
Best grown in moist, acidic soils and part to full shade. Trees are native to colder climates and do not do well in warm, humid climates.

Bark/Stem Description
Trunk diameter is 2 m. The bark is smooth and charcoal grey.
Leaf Description
The glossy, dark green needle-like leaves are 1-4 cm long and 0.5 mm wide.

The cones are 10-20 cm long and has 150-200 scales.
Colour Description
Needles are dark green. Cones are green, then reddish-brown.
