General Description |
Anemone nemorosa 'Vestal' is a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial with deeply dissected leaves and very pretty, double, white flowers. |
Landscape |
Use as a border or underplanting of roses and shrubs or in informal cottage or rock gardens. Also makes a good patio and container plant. |
Cultivation |
Grow in part shade, in moist, well-drained, humusy soil. Tolerant of drier conditions in summer, when dormant. |

Flower Description |
Solitary, double with an interior "bloom" of overlapping white sterile stamens (called staminodes), sometimes with a pale yellow hue, surrounded by six to seven larger, flat, white petals. Creates an attractive display. |
Fruit Description |
Its double flowers are sterile therefore no fruit is produced. |
Colour Description |
Bright white blooms contrast nicely with the dark green foliage. |
Propagation |
By root cuttings collected in autumn. Cut into 5 cm lengths and place horizontally in flats, barely cover. Water and place in a cold frame until growth appears and then pot individually. |
