General Description
This species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as least concern.
Cultivation
Moist, well drained soil in full sun to partial shade.
Habitat
Along stream sides and mountain paths at an altitude of 200-1,100 m.
Bark/Stem Description
Bark is white-striated, and branches are purple-red with white stripes.
Flower/Leaf Bud Description
Bud scales are 2-paired and valvate.
Leaf Description
Leaves are up to 8 cm with 3-5 lobes, irregularly serrated, blue-green above and paler beneath with pubescence on the vein axils when young.
Flower Description
Flowers are pale yellow. Seeds are ripe in October.
Fruit Description
A flat nutlet.

Propagation
Sow ripe seed in a cold frame, germination will occur the following spring. Pre-soak for 24 hours then stratify for 2-4 months at 1-8°C. When large enough prick and place into individual ports until they are 20 cm or higher, then plant in permanent positions. Cuttings should be taken from young shoots in June or July. Cuttings should have 2-3 pairs of leaves and on pair of buds at its base.
