| Bark/Stem Description |
| Young trees have thin, green-brown bark with resin blisters. As the tree ages, the bark changes colour to purple, finally becoming red-brown, much thicker, corky, and deeply fissured. Branches are usually level or gently downswept with drooping branchlets. The shoots are very aromatic, green-brown and thinly pubescent. |

| Flower Description |
| Green, cylindrical cone to 6-11.5 x 2 cm that opens to x 4 cm and changes colour to a pale brown. The scales are thinly woody, to 2.5 cm in width, and are evenly sized along the entire cone. |

| Seed is up to 7 mm in length, with a wing to 11 mm. |
