General Description
A critically endangered herb with a single vertical stem, a complex branching system, each division creating set of 3 stalks. It has 3-5 single flowers.
Pests
With downy mildew plants will be deformed in spring from any systemic infection, in summer new infections will arise as yellow patches on the leaves, followed by brownish-red marks on the stems and deformed leaves. There is no chemical available. Picking off the diseased leaves may be effective however some plants may need to be destroyed (burning is best).
Habitat
The gorge along the Flumineddu River, Sardinia, Italy, preferring the dry sandy pebble substrate of the riverbed.
Flower Description
Pale blue or white flowers consisting of 5 fused petals with the end having a hooked spur.
