Flowering Period
General Description
A beautiful silvery-tan plant which grows in areas not expected of cacti. Shrub or tree, terminal joints slightly clavate and gradually expand upwards.
Cultivation
Sandy soils.
Habitat
Small washes and flats in lower deserts at an altitude under 300 m.
Leaf Description
Straight spines, acicular and moderately dense with pale yellow/beige sheaths.
Flower Description
3.5-4 cm in diameter with sepaloids of green and purple middles and greenish yellow margins, obovate. Filaments a yellowish green in colour and 5 cm long.
Fruit Description
Green and dry at maturity, 1.5-2 cm in length and 1.2-2 cm in width.
