General Description
With an extensive decline in population, this species has been placed on the IUCN Red List as globally threatened.
Habitat
Oak woodlands and slopes at an altitude of 50-1,200 m.
Bark/Stem Description
Light grey and furrowed with brown hairy twigs.
Flower/Leaf Bud Description
Globose and glabrous, reddish-brown, 1-2 mm.
Leaf Description
Oblong or elliptic, thick, blueish-green, glabrous and smooth with a yellowish-green underside, 7-8 secondary veins on either side of the midvein and a cuneate to cordate base, 2.5-7 x 1.2-2.5 cm.
Fruit Description
Acorn, elliptic and light grey, singular or paired. Nut ovoid or oblong, light brown, 1.5-2.5 x 1.2-1.4 cm.
