Not only is this plant nice to look at, with full foliage and big interesting flowers, but its maintenance and easy-growing is appealing to growers of all levels. Having this shrub be so tolerant of many different conditions makes it a top contender for a wide variety of gardens.

General Description
This medium-sized shrub has full dark green foliage which lends to the contrast of the brilliant yellow flowers that mound over it in summer.
Landscape
Use as beds, borders, urban parks, public gardens, bordering buildings, general ground cover. Can be a hedge once it matures.
Cultivation
Grows best in well drained, moist soil of any pH level in full-to-partial sun. Although it is tolerant to a lot of pollution and different growing conditions it does not tolerate standing water. Grows best in a warmer climate.

ID Characteristic
Bright yellow flowers. These flowers, which cover the entire shrub in the summer, have easily recognizable stamen that stick far out of the flower. The stems on the plant are also red which offers another defining characteristic.
Pests
No known pests. Susceptible to root rot and wilt if grown in a cold climate.
Bark/Stem Description
Smooth, dark reddish-brown bark that remains for the duration of the plant's life.
Flower/Leaf Bud Description
Teardrop-shaped, non-terminal light-green buds that grow along the red stems. They change colour to the same yellow of the flowers before they bloom.
Leaf Description
Smooth, dark green, lanceolate-shaped opposite leaves that are 2” - 3” long with a reddish stem.
Flower Description
Five-lobed, cupped, brilliant yellow flowers. A darker yellow stamen grows between groups of flowers.
Colour Description
Foliage is a rich dark green during spring and summer. When the bush is in bloom brilliant yellow flowers cover it. Its bark is dark reddish-brown with red stems.

Dense texture.
