| Simple needles are situated in spirals near long shoots in clusters of 15 - 35 on small shoots. There are 15 - 35 needles in a cluster and they are approximately 1 to 2.5 cm in length. |

| Does not flower until 20 to 30 years old. The catkins are 5 cm. The male and female flowers are located on the same tree. |

| Monoecious. Cones are erected upright, flat-topped, 7.6 - 12.7 cm and 5.8 cm wide, attached at the apex and can be resinous. Female cones are barrel-like in shape and take 2 years to mature. |
