General Description
A small branching tree with an open crown.
Landscape
Use as a specimen shrub or in a mixed border with lower shrubs.
Cultivation
Grow in full sun to light shade in organic, moist, well-drained soils in an area protected from wind.

Upright and pyramidal with horizontal side branches.

No serious insect or disease problems.
Habitat
Thickets and thin woods in mountains and hills throughout Japan.
Leaf Description
Dark green leaves about 5 cm long turning yellow before dropping in the autumn.

Pendulous clusters of bell-shaped, mildly fragrant, 5-petaled, waxy white flowers each to 2 cm in diameter.
